Vishnu is anuttama because
- He has no superior to him
- He does not possess rejected wealth or knowledge
- He is superior to Mukhyaprana who energises all souls
Shastras substantiate superiority of Vishnu.
- Lord Krishna himself says in the 7th chapter of the Bhagavad-Gita as : “Mattaha Parataram Nanyat Kinchidasti, Dhananjaya “, which means “There is no superior to me”(Gita-7/8).
- Madhwacharya has praised Lord Narasimha thus, ‘Lakshmikanta Samantato Vikalayan Naiveshituste Samam Pashyamuttamavastu Doorataratopastam raso yoshtamha Narasimha Nakhastuti’, which means ‘Lord Lakshmikanta, I can not find anyone who can match you, wherever I search, hence how can there be anyone who is superior to you? When the seventh “juice(essence of taste)”, itself is not there, how can there exist an eighth juice?
- Vedavyasa has himself declared unequivocally thus: ‘Na Daivam Keshavat Param’, meaning there is no God superior to Keshava.(Mahabharatatatparya Nirnaya 2-17)
- When the meaning of the entire sacred scriptures(Vedas, Upanishats, Brahmasutras & Puranas), is appraised, it is concluded definitively that “superiority of Lord Vishnu’ is the hidden message of all the sacred scriptures. -(Padmapurana -Brihadaranyaka Upanishad Bhashya -3-5-4)
