Suvarna Gopura nirmana

Suvarna Gopura Prarambhotsava

The work of Suvarna Gopura nirmana has officially begun today

His Holiness Shri Vidydeesha Teertha Shripadaru of paryaya Palimaru Matha has undertaken the project of adorning the tower of the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Krishna with gold during his ongoing second paryaya. The inauguration of this project was conducted today at the rajangana. His Holiness stated “While there is a section of devotees who visit the temple to see the Lord, there are also those who behold Him by looking at the temple tower from the street. Hence covering the tower with gold is akin to making an armor for the Lord.  Although Lord Krishna lifted and held the Govardhana mountain with his little finger, the gopalakas feared that the mountain would fall on them and held it up with sticks believing they themselves are holding up the mountain. Likewise, we are mere instruments in this endeavor. Lord Krishna himself will carry out this task and pass on the merit of it to us. In temples, devotees should not exhibit bhakti in the Lord for display. Rather they should fill their mind with Him. When we remember the Lord, our fickle mind gets distracted by the valuable gold thus, when we offer gold to the Lord it is akin to offering our mind.”

His Holiness Shri Vidyashreesha Teertha Shripadaru of Shri Sosale Vyasaraja Matha said, “While the guru Shri Vidyamanya Teertha Sripadaru offered a golden chariot to Lord Krishna, his disciple Shri Vidyadeesha Teertha Shripadaru by offering a golden tower has earned the grace of gurugalu and Shri Krishna.”

Members of the Legislative Council T.A.Sharavana, G.Madhusudhan, mining businessman Pattigonda Prabhakar, IBM India’s Senior Executive Vice President Nataraj Radhakrishnan,  CEO of Samarpana Group of Companies, Bengaluru Dileep Satya, President of Udupi District Jewelers Association Jaya Acharya, Priest of Kateelu Durgaparameshwari Temple Vasudeva Asranna and Bhuvanendra Kidiyooru of Kidiyooru Hotel were present during the occasion.

The onus of this task has been entrusted to Venkatesha Seth. Craftsmen from the Daivajna and Vishwakarma community will carry out the wood, silver and gold workmanship. Bits of gold were melted moulded and hammered to consistency on the dais thus setting the wheels of this project in motion.

Dr.Venkatesh Acharya Korlalli presented the program. Manager of the paryaya matha Prahlad Rao welcomed the gathering,  Vidwan.Mohan Acharya delivered the speech and Vidwan.Gopalacharya delivered the vote of thanks.
