Sri Palimaru Matha is the first matha established by Jagadguru Shri Madhwacharya. It is also the first of the famous Ashta Mathas of Udupi. Shri Hrishikeshateertha was the first pontiff of this Matha. The head quarters of Palimaru Matha is situated at Palimaru village, about 35 KMs away from Udupi.
