Installation of 32ft Statue of Sri Madhwacharya
Invincible tenets such as the Tatvavaada have been bestowed upon the world by Jagadguru Shri Madhwacharya. It is a matter of delight for us that such a virtuous Guru took birth in Karnataka. Moreover, the fact that he chose to incarnate at a place called Pajaka in the proximity of Udupi is the good fortune of Tulu Naadu. 700 years have elapsed since Shri Madhvacharya perambulated through the entire country having witnessed several social – spiritual – cultural events and ended his incarnation. In commemoration of the 700th year jubilee, a 32 feet monolithic statue of Shri Madhvacharya comprising of all the 32 Lakshanas (bodily features) as detailed in Shilpa Shastra (Manual of iconography) is being installed at his birthplace Kunjarugiri in Pajaka.The constructive work of the topical sculpture has concluded and has already been put in place with an 8 feet lotus base on a 40 feet lofty pedestal .
This majestic sculpture, spanning a total of 80 feet is going to be installed at Kunjarugiri with the performance of Pratishtapana & Brahma Kalasha Utsava between 7th May 2017 to 10th May 2017 (Vaishakha Shuddha Dwadashi to Poornima). Along with innumerable devotees, the participation of 5000 people from 108 bhajanamandalis from the states of Karnataka – Andhra – Maharashtra – Tamil Nadu is anticipated during this glorious celebration. The four day celebration from 7th to 10th May 2017 includes several sacred ceremonies such as Pratishtanga Homa – Havana, Saamoohika Parayana, Bhajans, Interactive sessions on Tatvashaastra, Anugraha sandesha by various Madhva Peetaadhipatis.
